Kara Saun is an American fashion designer who participated in the first season of American reality show ''Project Runway''.
==Career==
Saun was a contestant on the first season of the series ''Project Runway''. She is the costume designer for MTV's hit series ''America's Best Dance Crew'' and the Jabbawockeez Vegas Show MUS.I.C. She is also costume designer for NBC's musical reality series ''The Sing-Off'', hosted by Nick Lachey, and ABC's reality series ''True Beauty'', hosted by Vanessa Minnillo and produced by Ashton Kutcher and Tyra Banks. She created The Cheetah Girls' look as the costume designer for The Cheetah Girls: One World Tour 2008 for Disney.
Saun has appeared as a fashion expert on various shows, including Bravo's "Launch My Line", Style Network's ''How Do I Look?'' and TV Guide Channel's ''Fashion Team''. She travels the country as a guest speaker on behalf of various Health Awareness Campaigns and non-profit organizations, such as Susan G. Komen’s Pink Ribbon and the Girl Scouts, and is committed to numerous shelter dog charities.
After Project Runway, Saun was costume designer for the hit WB series ''What I Like About You'', starring Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth, designed for the ''America’s Next Top Model'' Campaign 5 advertisement, and designed costumes for various TV series and pilots, such as UPN’s ''R U the Girl'', the ABC sitcom ''Notes from the Underbelly'' and MTV's ''Celebrity Rap Superstar''.
Saun’s red-carpet designs propelled her to the final three ''Project Runway'' designers who earned the privilege to show at 2005’s New York Olympus Fashion Week. She unveiled “2056”, her second collection, a Modern 40’s inspired theme with an Asian futuristic twist, at LA Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in fall 2006, and she has gone on to sell to boutiques across the country.
Prior to Project Runway, she was costume designer for the UPN series ''Eve''. She was brought in as costume designer to create the new look for Queen Latifah for her talk show, as well as designing the Queen’s Academy Awards red carpet gowns. As the costume designer for the Michael Mann/Sony Classics feature, “Baaadass”, directed by Mario Van Peebles, Saun recreated the funky era of the 1970s.
